History of HSDO

When Covid-19 was declared by the World Health Organization as a pandemic, a group of concerned citizens living in the USA, Europe and Africa who are originally from low-income countries got together to create an organization aimed at helping improve the delivery of care, and education in a sustainable manner.  As a first action, these concerned citizens raised money to address the needs of healthcare workers in the Mamou Region of the Republic of Guinea.  The success of that operation in terms of solidarity and effectiveness in the delivery of the vital materials made us realize even more clearly the enormity of the needs. We also realized that if we get organized and define reachable goals, we can make a measurable difference.  As a result, we created HSDO.

At HSDO, we strongly believe that we can make a difference and we are committed to pursuing our efforts until we have sustainable healthcare and education systems that benefit the local population in Guinea initially and then other countries. We will accomplish these goals through innovation using technology and empowering the local civil societies to take ownership of the entire process.  We will work with all institutions that share our values and approach to ending unnecessary and non-effective top-down methods that have shown their limits.  Various examples around the world have proven that an approach that has buy-in from all stakeholders is the most sustainable, impactful and lasting way of tackling these development issues.
